Hex V3 — The Event Update, Free Online
Hex's charity match becomes an IRIS confrontation
Hex's television head and love of basketball take centre stage in The Event Update, also known as VS Hex V3. Boyfriend joins him for an Event X charity match until Slasher disrupts the court and extends the IRIS conflict. Alongside that third story week, the update revisits earlier encounters and makes 30 songs available between the story routes and Freeplay. This page brings the game together with a free online player and a guide to the routes and hazards.
From park encounters to Event X
The Event Update extends both the story and the music. These are the main reasons to explore V3 after an earlier Hex build.
Returning Hex fans can follow the new chapter, while Freeplay players can spend longer with the remixes, moving lanes and tempo changes. The earlier Hex game below offers another point of comparison.
- Event X introduces B.I.T., Jumpin' and Headbasher on the charity basketball court, with Slasher continuing the IRIS conflict.
- Earlier weeks return with reworked music and presentation. The selection includes 2026 versions of Encore, Java and LCD; Glitcher Remix was already present before this update.
- New sprites, revised animation and expanded conversations rebuild the scenes featuring Hex and his visitors. The showcase's comparison section lets you inspect the visual changes.
- The expanded Freeplay catalogue includes HEXcript and LAN as well as Bombs N Combs and That Retro Song. Eye2Eye, Tangerine and Right Pace add further encounters to explore.
- V3 integrates with the official FNF mod menu, updates the results presentation and introduces more ambitious modcharts. Some older charts provide easier alternatives to their full visual effects.
Play Hex V3: The Event Update free online
Launch the player above to enter the browser version of Hex V3. Story leads to Week X, Weekend X or Event X, while Freeplay lets you focus on a chosen track. Use a computer keyboard for the notes; this online route does not require installing the desktop mod.

A route through the music and chart hazards
| Track | What to listen for |
|---|---|
| Detected (2026) | Choose how much of the modchart you want to face: Easy omits the effects; Normal applies a reduced version; Hard uses the complete modchart. Learning the music first helps when the note lanes begin moving. |
| B.I.T. | Event X begins with this court-side song. An Erect remix offers another take on the track once you want to explore beyond its story appearance. |
| Jumpin' | The second basketball encounter works passing and shooting into the performance. Keep following the chart between those on-court actions. |
| Glitcher | Hex's virus problem becomes part of the visual performance. Read from the note receptors when the glitch effects change the surrounding scene. |
| Headbasher | Slasher brings a 200 BPM encounter with mine notes that can immediately end the attempt. Recognising which objects to leave alone is as important as hitting the regular arrows. |
| Right Pace | Its Technical chart combines 1,916 notes, shifting tempos and mines. Work toward it after getting comfortable with the other selections, then learn where the rhythm changes. |
| HEXcript | A mock computer desktop, complete with a moving cursor, becomes the playfield backdrop. Keep tracking your own lanes through that desktop animation. |
| Tangerine | The listed note count stays at 722 across the difficulties, while visual effects increase the reading challenge. Choosing a level is about the playfield behaviour as well as the music. |
| Eye2Eye | Hex meets Iris against a dark scene dominated by a red eye. The shift in presentation does not stop the incoming notes, so stay with the receptors. |
Choose a chapter or rehearse a hazard chart
Choose between story progression and focused chart practice before starting. A simpler visual setting can make an unfamiliar rhythm easier to learn.
- Activate Play Now, let the menu arrive and click inside the game for keyboard focus.
- Use Story for one of the three weeks; Event X is the basketball chapter.
- Enter Freeplay for a specific song and any available original or 2026 variant.
- Match arrows or WASD to the regular notes as they reach your receptors.
- On Detected, try Easy or Normal before the complete Hard modchart; keep following your own lanes when the playfield changes.
- Watch for mines on hazard charts and avoid those inputs while continuing to hit ordinary notes.
Versions, playable Hex and mine notes explained
Can I start Hex V3 free online without installing V-Slice?
Yes. Use the browser player on this page for online play, then choose a story chapter or a Freeplay song. Desktop V-Slice requirements apply to the separate mod release, which is linked in the credits.
Which menu entry contains the new basketball story?
Select Event X from Story. Week X covers the park encounter, Weekend X follows the awards broadcast and Event X introduces the charity match disrupted by Slasher.
What is worth exploring after the story weeks?
Freeplay expands the music with new encounters and remixes, and some selections put Hex in the player role. Outside the note battles, you can browse the 20-entry Gallery or listen to 42 tracks in the Jukebox.
How do I hear a returning song's 2026 version?
In the Freeplay song selector, press V to switch between available original and 2026 variants. A different recording does not necessarily mean the notes have also been recharted.
Where can I practise before trying the strongest modcharts?
Detected (2026) gives you a useful progression: Easy omits the modchart, Normal reduces it and Hard keeps the complete effects. Use a more readable level to learn the song before adding the moving playfield.
Why do mine notes matter in Headbasher?
A mine hit in Slasher's chart can end the attempt immediately. Leave those hazards alone while timing the normal notes. Right Pace also uses mines, so reading the type of note matters beyond a single encounter.
Which Freeplay tracks let me control Hex?
You control Hex on selected tracks: Eye2Eye and That Retro Song are examples, as are LAN and Bombs N Combs. Check the chosen encounter before assuming every track uses the same singer.
How does V3 relate to the other Hex page here?
This guide covers The Event Update, its revised earlier weeks and the added Event X content. The separate Friday Night Funkin vs Hex Mod page uses another browser build; its menu determines the content available there.
Where can I compare the updated art or get the original files?
The linked video compares sprites at 1:39:32 and shows the new presentation throughout its PC tour. For desktop installation, use the GameBanana creator release in the credits and check its requirements.
What controls should I have ready for the browser version?
Use a desktop keyboard with arrows or WASD for the note charts. Touch support on phones and tablets has not been verified for this build.

Read the hazards before raising the difficulty
A successful Hex V3 run involves deciding which notes to hit and which hazards to avoid. Start with a readable chart, then add the stronger visual effects once you know the musical phrasing.
Launch the free online player to follow Event X or choose one Freeplay target. Learning a single tricky section gives you a clearer next step than rushing through the whole selection.

Friday Night Funkin' Vs Hex THE EVENT UPDATE (FULL WEEKs)
Story chapters begin at 02:04 for Week X, 15:56 for Weekend X and 30:43 for Event X. Freeplay starts at 50:36. For the creators and presentation details, see credits at 1:38:40, the sprite comparison at 1:39:32 and results animations at 1:41:54.
Choose your route through The Event Update
A meeting in the park starts Week X, which leads into Hex's infection. The awards broadcast in Weekend X then becomes another IRIS incident. Event X then takes the conflict to basketball, introducing Slasher, an opponent made from Hex's data.
V3 revisits a mod that began in 2021. Event X extends the story, while Freeplay receives seven additional songs. Ten remixes join the music selection, and some older modcharts gain easier alternatives. The GameBanana source supplies the separate V-Slice files; the browser player above starts without that desktop setup.
Outside the main encounters, the Gallery has 20 entries and the Jukebox has 42 tracks. Some Freeplay selections make Hex playable. Results and game-over screens receive custom presentation, and the options let you adjust the frame rate and flashing-light effects.
